KoreaFest Contest FAQ

Do performers have to abide by the bag policy?

No! Due to performers using props and having costumes, we are allowing performers to bring bags outside of our bag policy. However, we will still be conducting bag checks, so please try to pack only the essentials to ensure a smooth check-in!

What does the Contest entail specifically?

Accepted contestants will perform live on stage in front of celebrity judges in the K-Pop field for a chance to win a cash prize.

Is there a cost to enter the contest?

The fees for this year have a $50 submission fee for all categories: Group Dance (Large & Small Group), Solo Dance, Singing, & Idol.

Are there any age restrictions for participants?

We do not have any official age restrictions. However, the majority of past contestants have been 18 years or older.

Do I need to be a resident of North Carolina to participate?

No, you do not need to be a North Carolina resident to participate; it is open to participants from anywhere.

Can Non-Koreans participate?

We welcome all races, nationalities, genders, and sexualities to participate!

How will I know if my submission was received?

Once you submit your form, you will see a confirmation prompt. If you're unsure or would like to double-check, feel free to contact us via Instagram DM or email us at InWaveContest@gmail.com.

Are there prizes for the contest winners? What are they?

Large Group Dance: $2,000
Small Group Dance: $1,000
Solo Dance: $1,000
Singing: $1,000
Idol: $1,000
There will be a second/third place cash prize and 'Viewer's Choice Award' trophy for each category.

Can I enter as both a soloist and in a group?

Yes, you are allowed to send in auditions for multiple categories, if accepted you will also be allowed to compete in all categories you pass.

Can I submit multiple entries in the contests?

Yes, you may enter more than one category. However, contestants are only allowed to submit one audition per category.

When does the audition submission period open and close?

The submission period opens on Saturday, December 27th, and closes on Saturday, January 17th at 11:59 PM.

How do I submit my audition video?

Visit InWaveMovement.com, navigate to the KoreaFest tab, review the guidelines for the category you're interested in, and fill out the form at the bottom of the page.

What are the different performance categories?

Solo Dance, Idol, Singing, and starting at KoreaFest 2026, we will be splitting up the Group Dance category into Small Group (2-6 Members) & Large Group (7+ Members).

What format should my submission video be in?

The format of your video should be sent in as an unlisted YouTube link.

Can I change or update my audition after I've submitted it?

No, once your audition is submitted, that is what our team will be reviewing.

One (or multiple) members in my group are unable to film the audition with us but will be attending KoreaFest. Are we still able to submit the audition without them?

For the Singing & Idol categories, all performing members must be present in the audition video. For the Solo & Group Dance categories, the number of members must match your final performance unless you are adding members, in which case you will need to email us ASAP. You may switch individuals, but the headcount should stay the same.

Can family/friends attend KoreaFest to watch?

Yes, friends and family are actually encouraged to attend KoreaFest. There will be a huge variety of activities for everyone of all ages to enjoy, such as: K-Pop Performances, Over 70 Food, Merch, & Informational Vendors, Korean Games, Korean Hanbok Try-On, and thousands of attendees to meet and have a great time with!

Will there be a livestream for those who can't attend in person?

No, unfortunately, we will not have a livestream for the individuals who are not able to attend KoreaFest in person.

Vendor FAQ

How do I become a vendor for KoreaFest 2026?

To become a vendor, simply complete the KoreaFest 2026 Vendor Interest Form. Once submitted, our team will review your application and reach out with the next steps.

Is there an application deadline?

Vendor applications will be accepted until all spots are filled. We encourage applying early, as space is limited.

How will I know if I’ve been accepted?

Accepted vendors will be notified via email with confirmation details, payment information, and event logistics.

Are food vendors required to have permits?

Yes. All food vendors must have the appropriate health permits and licenses required by local and state regulations.

Can vendors sell out-of-the-box or handmade items?

Yes! We encourage both handmade and retail vendors to apply. Every year, we have so many different vendors who sell unique items at our festival, and it's always exciting to see how their items differ from one another and draw in the crowds.

Is there a vendor fee?

Yes, vendor fees vary depending on vendor type and booth needs. Full pricing details will be shared after your application is reviewed.

What types of vendors are you looking for?

We welcome vendors of all sizes, including food vendors, merchandise sellers, artists, small businesses, creators, and organizations that align with our mission of celebrating Korean culture and community.

Meet & Greet FAQ

Can I pay for both Meet & Greets to meet both artists?

Yes! You will be able to do both meet & greets if you’d like, despite them both being at the same time! We will have a line system in place for those who decide to purchase both packages!

Can I buy tickets the day of KoreaFest?

Yes! But they are first-come-first-serve. We recommend buying as soon as you can before tickets run out! All ticket sales are non-refundable, but are transferable. Transferred ticket holders must know the name of the original ticket holder in order to check in.

Can I bring gifts for the judges?

Only Letters will be accepted from any artist during the meet and greet. Any gifts (including bracelets) will not be accepted.

Can I accompany my child in the VIP benefits without buying a VIP ticket?

No, you do not have to buy a ticket for yourself! We will have a "chaperone" wristband for parents so they can move through the line with their child. However, parents will not be able to take any 1:1 pictures with their child, or participate in the Hightouch/Meet &Greet event.

Is there an age restriction for the meet & greet?

Yes! Anyone under the age of 16 will need a parent or guardian (over the age of 18) present. Your parent or guardian does not need to buy a ticket for themselves, but if they choose not to, they will not be able to be in the 1:1 pictures with you, or participate in the Hightouch event.

KoreaFest FAQ

Where is the InWave booth located?

This year, our booth will be located through the main entrance on the right side of the building.

What time does the event start?

Doors open at 9:30 am, and the event will start at 10:00 am!

Do you offer refunds for tickets if I can't make it?

We do not offer refunds, as we are a non-profit trying to keep KoreaFest going and ticket sales are our main source of funding these events for years to come.

What are the Camera Policies?

Cell phones, Digital camera/ point-and-shoot cameras are allowed! This rule extends to the meet and greets as well. 1:1 or 1:4 Pictures will only be taken on these devices.
Professional cameras (tripods included), DSLRs, Camcorders, any cameras with detachable/interchangeable lenses, & polaroids are prohibited.
Look to our Instagram for visuals of camera types that are allowed/banned!

Where can I find parking?

Free parking is available around the entire Agri Supply Exposition Center!

Is there a bag policy?

We have a no-large-capacity-backpack policy. Bags over 12x12 inch dimensions will not be allowed inside the venue. We will be conducting a bag check at the time of entry.

Can I buy tickets the day of KoreaFest?

Yes! Tickets will be sold at the ticket booth inside the Agri Supply Exposition Center and can be bought with cash or card. All ticket sales are non-refundable, but are transferable.

Will there be senior or military & veteran discounts?

Senior and Military/ Veteran discount tickets will only be sold at the door. All ticket sales are non-refundable, but are transferable.

Is there an age limit for the festival?

No, all ages are welcome! Some even get discounted tickets! For safety reasons, those under the age of 16 need to have an adult accompany them.

Are outside food or drink permitted?

We allow sealed drinks or snacks into the venue to accommodate for those with medical conditions! Rest assured, there will be lots of varying food and drink vendors inside the venue!

Do I get an email when I buy a ticket?

Yes, you should receive an email within a couple of minutes of purchasing your tickets.

Can I donate to InWave?

Yes! Donations are taken through the get involved page or the button at the top right of this website.

If I won the giveaway, how do I get my tickets and prize?

If you won any of our giveaways, please go to the Ticket Sales booth in the lobby on KoreaFest day. You’ll be able to pick up your tickets and prize.

Can I wear a cosplay outfit to KoreaFest?

Yes, we love to see cosplay! Please keep it family-friendly and do not cover your full face. No cosplay props or weapons are permitted.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! You can find a volunteer sign-up form located on our Get Involved page on this site.
